About

Australian Catholic University also known as ACU, is a public research university in Australia. Established on 1 January 1991, ACU was formed as a result of a merger between the four Catholic tertiary institutions in eastern Australia which includes Institute of Catholic Education- Victoria, Signadou College of Education- Australian Capital Territory, McAuley College- Queensland and Catholic College of Education Sydney- New South Wales. 

The Australian Catholic University has a total of seven campuses around Australia along with a campus in Rome. Catering about 34,834 students worldwide, ACU is made up of four faculties, namely -Education and Arts, Health Sciences, Theology and Philosophy and Law and Business, which offers doctoral, master and bachelor degrees.

Located just 12km north of the city centre on 1100 Nudgee Road, the ACU’s Brisbane campus- McAuley is home to Peter W Sheehan Gallery, medical centre, library and a gym. Just a short drive away from Queensland’s famous beaches, McAuley campus offers its students with undergraduate, postgraduate as well as research degrees in various subjects.


Adelaide Campus

ACU’s newest campus, St Francis of Assisi, is located on 116 George Street in Thebarton. Founded as the Catholic Theological College, the ACU’s Adelaide campus is now part of the Faculty of Theology and Philosophy offering postgraduate courses which study the foundations of Christian faith and examine its relationship with the modern world.


Ballarat Campus

Nestled between the Ballarat commercial centre and Lake Wendouree, the ACU’s Ballarat campus Aquinas is just 125 kilometres west to the city of Melbourne. Located on 1200 Mair Street, Ballarat Vic, the Aquinas campus offers a broad range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Apart from this, the campus also offers Masters and PhD degrees.  


North Sydney Campus 

Surrounded by tall buildings, shops and cafes, the ACU’s North Sydney Campus (MacKillop) is conveniently located in the North Sydney business district. Situated merely 5-minutes train ride away from Sydney city centre, the North Sydney campus offers both full-time as well as part-time courses at undergraduate, postgraduate and research levels.  


Sydney Strathfield Campus

Located in one of the oldest suburbs of Sydney, the Strathfield Campus (Mount Saint Mary ) is soaked in history, but comes with all the modern facilities. Situated at 25A Barker Road, just 14 kilometres west of the Sydney city centre, the Strathfield Campus is well-connected to various public transport, therefore, providing a comfortable commute for students shuttling from Central Coast and the Blue Mountains.


Canberra Campus

Situated on 223 Antill Street, merely 5 kilometres from Canberra’s central business precinct, the ACU’s Canberra Signadou campus is home to the National War Museum, Parliament House and the National Gallery. 


Rome Campus

Inaugurated in 2015, the Australian Catholic University’s Rome campus is located at 2800153 Roma RM, Italy. It was formed as a result of a collaboration of ACU with Rome’s Catholic University of America.
