Established in 1909 by the state parliament, the University of Queensland, also known as UQ, is a public research university primarily based in Brisbane. The University is ranked as one of the most reputable universities in the world, and also comes under the world's top 50 universities. The University of Queensland is a member of the Universities 21 and also a founding member of the Group of Eight (Go8) universities and a member of Universities Australia. 

The UQ offers, bachelor, master, doctoral, and higher doctorate degrees through a college, graduate school, and six faculties and is home to over 52,000 students, out of which 18,000 are international students. UQ is also getting funding of AUD 1.7 million to work on projects to develop sonars, quantum gyroscopes, accelerometers, and magnetometers. The University of Queensland has six faculties including - Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Business, Economics and Law, Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Architecture and Information Technology, Faculty of Health and Behavioural Sciences, Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Science.

The University of Queensland has a total of three campuses in Brisbane with advanced facilities to support its students. 


St Lucia Campus

St Lucia Campus is located on 114 hectares of Brisbane River-bound land. The main Campus of UQ is a vibrant mix of majestic buildings and contemporary architecture, beautiful gardens and lakes and the campus is located 7 kilometers from Brisbane's city-centre. St Lucia campus is also served by excellent and convenient transport links and the campus has two bus stations, out of which one is located at Chancellor's Place and the other on the lakes. Students can also use a free intercampus bus service which runs between St Lucia and Gatton campuses.


Gatton campus

Gatton campus is the University's rural campus, which is located in the Lockyer Valley. The Campus is situated 87-kilometers west of Brisbane's city-centre. The history of the Gatton campus dates back to the year 1897. Students will find top-class education facilities in subjects including agriculture, animals, environment and veterinary science. The Campus has more than 1000 hectares of dairy, crop, grazing units, post-harvest facilities, and greenhouses- like a 

working farm. 


Herston Campus

Located in Herston, the Herston Campus is a hub for health teaching and research. The Campus is home to the UQ Centre for Clinical Research, UQ's Medicine and Public Health schools, the UQ Centre for Clinical Research, Oral Health Centre, and the research activities of the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Herston Campus operates within the Queensland Health system of the Royal Brisbane Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital, Royal Children's Hospital, Royal Women's Hospital and the Queensland Institute of Medical Research.
