Ravensbourne University was formed in the year 1959 following the merger of the Bromley School of Art and the Department of Furniture Design of the Beckenham School of Art. The University was formerly known as  Ravensbourne College of Design and Communication.  The University was originally at Bromley Common in Outer London. In September 2010- It shifted to a purpose-built campus in inner London on the Greenwich Peninsula. The University caters over 2,400 students and offers courses on digital media and design courses ranging from pre-degree, undergraduate and postgraduate to professional short course level. Ravensbourne University London is a design and digital media university offering courses in television, broadcasting, interactive product design, architecture, animation, music production for sound  design and fashion. Charlton mainline station is just a short ride on either a 486, 472 or 161 bus from North Greenwich Underground station. Southeastern also runs services to Charlton train station.
