About

Established in 1832, Bradford University located in Bradford, West Yorkshire, started as the Mechanics Institute. In 1966, the University received its official certification, since then the University has focused on helping students lead fulfilling lives and become knowledgeable, competent and compassionate global citizens. Harold Wilson was the first Chancellor of the University, from its founding in 1966 until 1985.


The University is home to more than 8,000 undergraduate and 2,900 postgraduate students from over 130 countries. The University has four faculties. These faculties include the Faculty of Engineering and Informatics, Faculty of Health Studies, Faculty of life sciences, Faculty of Management and Law and Medical Sciences. According to HESA 2017, 94% of Bradford students find professional employment within six months of graduating.
