Manchester Metropolitan University


Located in the city of Manchester, Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) is a public university which has its history trace back to the year 1843. Formerly known as Manchester Polytechnic, it was born due to the amalgamation of the Manchester School of Design and the Manchester Mechanics Institute in the year 1970. 

Later on in the year 1992, the MMU received its university status under the government's Further and Higher Education Act and was further renamed as the Manchester Metropolitan University. Apart from this, the Manchester Metropolitan University is an accredited member of the Association of MBAs and is also part of the Association of Commonwealth Universities, the University Alliance, Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business the North West Universities Association, and the European University Association.

Currently catering an average of 33,000 students every year, the MMU offers a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. 


Manchester Metropolitan University has a total of two campuses, out of which one is situated right in the centre of Manchester city while the other one is based in Cheshire. 

Located on Oxford Road, Manchester city campus is merely 15 minutes' walk away from the city centre. The campus is also very well linked with the city's railway stations, major motorway networks and Metrolink tram routes. Also, Manchester International Airport is just 16-km south of Manchester's city centre.

Located at Crewe Green Rd, the Cheshire campus mmu is just a stone throw away from Crewe station. One could either take five minutes to walk down the Crewe station or opt for a bicycle or bus or car ride.
