Located in Manchester, England, the University of Manchester is a red brick public research university established during the late 19th century as a result of the civic university movement.

In the year 2004, the University of Manchester was formed due to the merger of Victoria University of Manchester and University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology. 

Being one of the largest single-site universities in the UK as well as a part of the esteemed Russell Group of University, the University of Manchester is not only the highest-ranked institution but also has one of the largest student populations in the whole of Europe.

Location

Located on the southern side of the city centre, the University of Manchester comprises of 2 main areas- the Oxford Road area and the Sackville Street area. The University is a 10 minutes bus ride away from the main shopping, entertainment and business areas of the city. The Oxford Road train station and Piccadilly mainline station are the closest railway station to the University of Manchester. Plus, the station has direct lines to the major towns and cities across the country including central London, which is just 2 hours away from the city. Also, Manchester Airport is only 30 minutes away from the University.
