Manchester College is a nationally significant education provider, and its campuses are spread in the north, south and Centre of the city, serving diverse local communities. The origins of the College began almost 200 years ago with the foundation of St. John's Sunday School in Manchester, a pioneering school for workers. By the 1950s this evolved into St John's and Openshaw Technical College. To meet the needs of the educational community- Openshaw and St. John's merged to form The Central College Manchester which later became The Manchester College of Arts and Technology. In South Manchester; Fielden Park, Arden and Wythenshawe merged to form City College Manchester eventually. By 2008, it had united as the Manchester college. The Manchester College offers courses for students aged 16 to 19, adults, higher education students, employers and international students.

Located in the heart of Manchester's Knowledge Quarter on Oxford Road, it houses the School of Medicine, Health Sciences and Medical Engineering. Courses are available for students above age 19 to prepare them for medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, health, medical engineering subjects at degree level.

There are many supermarkets and fast food joints nearby to grab a quick bite. Whitworth Park is also a short walk away from the campus and is famous for its Whitworth Art Gallery, which is situated in 18 acres of green space. The Gallery features 55,000 items in its collection. Oxford Road is famous for the number of buses running all day and all night. The St Peter's Square station is around 15-20 minutes' minutes' walk from the campus while the Oxford Road Station is about 10-15 minutes' minutes' walk from the campus.

  • Nicholls Campus

Located on Hyde Road, Ardwick- Nicholls Campus offers courses in subject areas including business, computing, health, care & well being, public services and sport. The campus has Arden School of Theatre, offering professional training in the performing arts as part of The Manchester College. Nicholls Campus is also home to the Nicholls Community Football Centre of Excellence. Bus routes to Nicholls Campus include 192, 201, 203, 204, 205, 206 and Ardwick train station is close to the campus.

  • Shena Simon Campus

Shena Simon Campus is located on Whitworth Street. The campus offers courses such as creative and digital media, design and visual arts, ESOL, performing arts, music and science. You can hang out in many amazing places which are really close to Shena Simon campus. Manchester's busiest shopping street- Market street is also a short walk away from the campus. If you are in a mood to have a quiet time, you can head to Sackville Park, a leafy urban oasis located next to the campus.

  • St John's Centre

St John's Centre located in the stylish part of Manchester's city centre. The campus offers courses such as business and finance, law, accounting, and Access. Students can study for AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) and CILEX (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives). Students can also head to the beautiful Victorian gothic library - John Rylands Library.


East Manchester

  • Harpurhey Campus

Located in Rochdale road, Harpurhey Campus offers courses like business, computing, ESOL, hair and beauty, childcare studies, public services, theatrical media make-up and more. Woodlands Road Metrolink station is just over a mile away from the campus, while the Abraham Moss station is also slightly within a walking distance. You will find many shops and chill places to hang out in this area because it is located close to Manchester city centre.

  • Openshaw Campus

Openshaw is a modern campus designed to deliver a supportive learning and social environment for students. Openshaw Campus is located on Ashton old road, offering courses such as automotive, business, computing, construction, creative and digital media, design and visual arts, engineering, childcare studies, hospitality. Many facilities at Openshaw are open to the community, including a salon, restaurant and fitness centre. Openshaw is just a short bus ride from Manchester's city centre. Sportcity and the City of Manchester Stadium are pretty close to the campus. Wondering about the options for commutation? Velopark and Etihad Campus Stations are about 20 minutes' walk from the campus, while Ashburys train station is just 10 minutes' away.

The School of Building is located very close to the Openshaw campus, one of the north west's top centres for construction training.

South Manchester

  • Fielden Campus

Fielden Campus is a modern campus located in West Didsbury in a lively part of south manchester. The campus is equipped with the latest innovative technology in areas such as film production and digital media. You can find many trendy shops, delightful restaurants, chill bars on Burton Road in West Didsbury. Fletcher Moss Botanical Garden is also a short walk from campus. Burton Road Metro Station is about 10 minutes walk from the campus, and east Didsbury and Burnage train stations are under two miles from the campus.

  • Northenden Campus

Northenden Campus is a large campus, offering a wide range of courses for school leavers, apprentices, adults and university-level students. The subjects on offer to study are animal care, business, computing, creative & digital media, design & visual arts, hair & beauty, childcare studies, health care & well being, public services and theatrical & media make-up. Some of the facilities at Northenden are open to the public, including beauty salons.

  • Wythenshawe Campus

Located in Brownley Road, Wythenshawe Campus opened in 2010 and offers courses like automotive, construction, hospitality and catering, logistics and travel, tourism and aviation. The campus is environmentally friendly and has innovative technology. Wythenshawe is located 8 miles south of Manchester City Centre, surrounded by parks and woodland areas. Benchill Metrolink station is just a short walk away from the campus.
