About

Established in 1966, Flinders University is a public university located in the city of Adelaide, South Australia. Named after Matthew Flinders- a British navigator who explored and studied the South Australian coastline, the Flinders University was inaugurated by the Queen Mother, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth on March 25th, 1966. The university started classes on March 7th, 1966 with a total of about 400 students. 


Ranked among the world's top 500 institutions in the Academic Ranking of World Universities, the Flinders University offers courses related to Business, Government and Law, Science and Engineering, Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences, Education, Psychology and Social Work, Nursing and Health Sciences and Medicine and Public Health. 


Along with being a verdant university, Flinders University is also a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) formerly known as Innovative Research Universities Australia. Some of the notable alumni of Flinders include Carl Bridge (professor of history at King's College London), Robert Simms (Australian Senator), Rod Boswell (professor, Plasma Research Laboratory, ANU), Mark Peel (Australian historian) and Matthew Liptak (Adelaide Crows footballer).

Bedford Park campus


Located on Sturt Rd, just 12km south of the Adelaide city-centre, the Bedford Park campus is Flinders University's main campus. Home to Flinders student hub, Bedford Park campus is well connected to the city's transport system via public transport. 

Victoria Square campus


Located in the center of Adelaide CBD, at 182 Victoria Square, the Flinder's Victoria Square campus offers a variety of courses and topics related to Public Policy and Public Administration, Social Work, Accounting and Languages. 

Tonsley campus


Flinders Tonsley campus located at 1284 South Road, co-locates expertise in mathematics, computer science, and engineering collectively with the Centre for Nanoscale Science and Technology and Flinders Medical Device Research Institute. The Tonsley campus is also a hub for future employers and entrepreneurs who are building next-generation start-ups through the Flinders New Venture Institute.
