Who can live at this PMG?

PMG is home away from home to all students who are 17 years of age or over, from any college, university or third level institution and from any country in the world. There are a few requirements you need to meet in order to stay with us. You need to prove that you are at least one of the following:  

– a student who is taking a full-time course  

– a student on an organised study-abroad programme  

– a student enrolled full-time in a language school  

– a student conducting a work placement course as part of a degree-granting programme  

– all PhD Students and any Post-Doctoral Researchers who can provide written evidence of studies from supervisor You’re able to book from the age of 17 at the time of check-in, please speak to your residence team for more details on under 18 policy. TVs are provided in our studio rooms and all of their shared kitchen/lounges. Living room areas are shared. 

– Studio rooms: If you prefer your privacy, our Studio rooms have your own bathroom and kitchen area.

What payment is needed to secure my room?

Once you’ve chosen your room, you’ll need to secure it with us by accepting the agreement for your room and paying the €100 advance license fee. Both these steps need to be completed to reserve your room until the start of your stay. The advance license fee will however be deducted from the first (or only) instalment of your accommodation fee.

How many instalments can pay my room fee in?

You can pay your license fee in full or you can choose a payment plan of 4 to 8 instalments. If you’re paying in full, the total amount will be due before your arrival. If you’ve opted for a payment plan of 4 or 8 instalments, the first payment doesn’t need to be paid upon booking, however it will need to be paid at least 2 weeks before your arrival. Please note paying in instalments will require a guarantor.

Is the agreement for my room a legally binding contract?

Yes, the agreement for your room, which you are required to accept in order to complete your booking and secure your room, is a legally binding contract.

Can I terminate the agreement for my room and cancel my booking?

PMG offers a fair cancellation policy, Please note cancellations must be submitted in writing to your residence team at the following address and must be emailed by the student, they cannot accept written notices from parents or guardians.

Are there any extra bills have to pay apart from my rent?

All bills (water, gas and electricity) are covered by a separate utility fee,  For all bookings in 2023/24, the utility fee is charged at €12.55 per week. You can pay for your laundry on a pay-as-you-go basis, using the on-site laundry facilities.

Are you able to sublet your room to a friend if you no longer need it?

If you wish to terminate the agreement for your room during your period of residence, you should contact the reception team to discuss the option of a room agreement takeover.

Do I need a guarantor?

If you choose to pay by instalment (4 or 8 payments) or are a 17 year old resident then an Ireland-based or International guarantor is required. You choose your guarantor and enter their information as part of the booking process. Their will then get in touch with them directly to confirm.

Do you offer dual occupancy?

Dual occupancy is available in studios only, students are not permitted to share ensuite rooms. Please note both tenants must be students.

I don't have a Personal Public Service Number, can still book a room?

They understand you may not have your PPSN yet but don’t worry, you can still book a room. During the booking process, simply mark this field as “n/a” or “none” and make sure to update your profile with the information once your PPSN has been granted (this last part is super important!).

Can bring a pet?

What is the guest policy?

They do allow day and night guests, however, for your own safety and security, there are a few guest policies in place:  

– You can have unlimited guests visiting during the day between 9 am and 10.30 pm  

– For overnight stays, one guest can stay for a maximum of three consecutive nights. Any guest staying longer than this must be discussed with management and may not stay more than 8 consecutive nights  

– All guests must be 18 years of age or over You will have to sign in your guests, and they must bring a photo ID to gain entry into the building

Do you have Laundry facilities?

They have laundry rooms in all of their PMG’s in Ireland. You’ll have 24-hour access to washers and dryers. Payment is done through an app that you can download and use as you wish. For any other questions on laundry, speak to the team as they’ll be happy to help.

What if have a disability or special requirement?

They have accessible rooms available at all their residences. They want to make sure that everyone is able to have a safe and comfortable stay with us. Please let them know about any medical information or disabilities on your application or contact us directly to find out more. PMG will be happy to liaise with your college disability support officer to meet your needs.

Is Content Insurance included in my rent?

Contents insurance is not currently included in the rent for the PMG’s in Ireland.

What is included in my room?

In our ensuite rooms you will find:

Are Kitchen essentials and bedding included in my room?

Your kitchen comes with some cooking and eating utensils, however, they strongly advise also bringing some additional items if needed, please note their hobs are induction ready so please ensure your items are compatible. They do not provide linen as they tend to be personal items, so please bring your own bedding/pillows/towels. You can order these to the complex in advance of your arrival and they will be in your room when you arrive. Please liaise with staff to organise.

Will I have internet in my room?

Yes, They have high speed Wifi throughout each PMG so you can be connected at all times. More information on how to connect will be provided upon your arrival. They’re even the first student accommodation building in Ireland to have been awarded a Silver rating by Wired Score, this means guaranteed connectivity everywhere in the building and their WiFi is super fast and reliable, plus you’re able to connect from day one.

Will my room be cleaned?

Cleaning services of your room and flat are not included in your stay. However, they ensure all common spaces and corridors are regularly cleaned.

Will I have a TV in my room?

TVs are provided in their studio rooms and all of their shared kitche/lounges.

Can I change my room after I move in?

If you’d like to move rooms, they will always try to accommodate it. Please do note that they can only offer room changes if there are rooms available to move into within your PMG residence and there is an understandable reason for wanting the change. Keep in mind that different rooms can be offered at varying prices. The rates are based on a number of things, like the size of the room, location in the building and its availability so it may be that you will have to pay a different rate to occupy another room. As terms and conditions may apply, please make sure you speak to them.

Can bring my bike?

They encourage everyone to bring their bikes to university as it makes for a much more environmentally friendly way to get around town. In fact, all of their PMG’s do have bike storage available. Simply speak to the team to book your space. Bikes must only be stored in the specified bike stores. You are advised to take out contents insurance that covers loss or damage to your bike, PMG is not liable for any damage, theft or loss of bikes in the bike store.

What happens if my light bulb needs replacing or something breaks?

Their maintenance teams are available to help with any issues or questions. They’re also available for any emergencies during the weekends. If you do experience any maintenance issues during your stay, please email reception with your maintenance requests. The team will update you on the progress of the job and book a time with you to access your room.

Where can I smoke?

They don’t allow smoking inside your residence, but you’re free to do so in the designated smoking areas. These are located at the front of reception and the centre courtyard. Smoking inside, in the bike store, bin store or at the rear of the building is strictly forbidden.

Can I personalise my room?

You can personalise your room, as long as you’re able to return your room at the end of your contract in the original state. You will be recharged for any damages to your room, such as holes, nails or glue marks on the wall.

Can I have parcels delivered to my residence?

Their reception team will accept parcels on your behalf during office hours where possible. They will then send you an email to inform you your package is ready for collection.

What documents do need to check-in?

Before making your first instalment, you will need to submit your proof that you are a registered student. They will accept the following: 

• Proof of registration from the Academic Records office of the college  

• Acceptance or offer letter from the course director  

• CAO offer letter or acceptance Irish students (only) will need to submit their PPSN with their documentation. During check in, students must have acceptable photo ID, this includes a passport, public services card, driver's licence, or age card.

Can I move in early, before my contract starts?

Where they have availability we may be able to extend or start your contact with us early. Please contact your residence team to find out if this is possible for your requirements.

Can I choose who my flatmates are?

If you like to share the same communal kitchen and living area with your friends, you can choose to live with your friends by selecting the same apartment number when you book with us. Please note, that this is subject to availability, so ensure to book in advance. Please contact them when you need any help in choosing your rooms.

Are there specific times of day that I can move in?

To ensure you get the best check in experience, we will send out an email with different timeslots when it gets nearer to your check-in weekend, so you can book a time that’s suitable for you.

When is check-in 2023?

Check In Weekend takes place in September however the dates vary depending on what PMG you’re staying in.

How is the PMG responding to Covid-19?

The health safety and wellbeing of their students is their top priority. They continue to monitor the situation closely and are proactively following healthcare and government advice from the World Health Organization, HSE, and the Department of Foreign Affairs to help ensure They are effectively managing the implications of coronavirus and responding as necessary. Within their residences: 

* They keep a stock of hand sanitiser for you to use in each of their residences 

* There are plastic screens in all receptions * All staff continue to wear masks in communal areas 

* They are frequently cleaning all communal and high footfall areas, following our strict COVID-19 sanitising protocol.

* Cleaning schedules, sanitising stations and social distancing guidance are available to ensure they continue to care for each other and keep our communities safe. 

* A visitor questionnaire and sign-in will be required to ensure our guests do not have any symptoms which may put our community at risk. 

* They are running all events virtually via our Instagram and Facebook channels and are slowly re-introducing  in-person events 

* Our teams are available 24/7 to provide you with dedicated support and ensure you stay safe and well. 

* All of our buildings have 24/7 CCTV and secure entry points. 

* Our teams have been trained on COVID-19  secure protocol, adhere to the latest official government guidance, and ensure appropriate social distancing, sanitising and safeguarding measures are in place. 

* They strongly recommend that all of our students follow the most recent guidance from the HSE and the  WHO. 

What is the pmg response if someone tests positive for Covid-19?

Their response is still in line with government guidance to isolate the flat or studio, employ track, trace and test to the flat or studio and all those they may have come into contact with. They also carry out extra deep cleaning of the residence and common areas and close communal space. They then carefully manage spaces once they reopen.

What can I do if I feel anxious while staying at pmg?

It is perfectly understandable that you might be anxious or worried about being away from home. Here are some ways to relieve stress and anxiety:

* Look for ideas of exercises you can do  and are comfortable with

* Spend time doing things you enjoy – this might include reading, cooking, other indoor hobbies or listening to the radio or watching TV programmes

* Try to eat healthy, well-balanced meals,  drink enough water and avoid smoking, alcohol and drugs

* Keep your windows open to let in fresh air, get some natural sunlight if you can, or get outside into the garden (where possible) You can also speak to your residence team about it and they can help with local resources, groups and university support too.
