There is no deadline for applications; however, please note that once the village has reached capacity, you are only able to sit on the waitlist, and this does not guarantee you a spot with us.

Is there any heating/cooling in my room?

An oil heater is featured in all of our rooms at the property. However, only our north side apartment rooms have ceiling fans. Students in the south side apartment are able to bring along pedestal fans if they would like.

Is there a cleaning service?

There is no cleaning service at the property. You are required to upkeep your personal areas yourself, and organise among the residents of the apartment how to keep the common areas clean. There are inspections throughout the year, and if areas are deemed below standard, penalties will apply where relevant.

Who has access to my room?

Every room is private with a lockable door - only you will have access to your room. If you are in shared accommodation, the communal areas will the be accessible to all tenants of the specific apartment.

Is there a curfew at the Property?

The property is your home and you are welcome to come and go as you please.

Residents must comply with all directions from property management in relation to noise minimisation, particularly in response to noise complaints from other residents of the property and/or neighbours of the property.Visitors
A visitor is defined as a person who is meeting with a resident for a short period of time, while a guest is defined as a person who is staying overnight with a resident in accordance with the Rules. All visitors arerequired to leave the property by 12 midnight(unless otherwise notified to residents by property management from time to time). Any visitor present in the property after the specified time will be considered an “unauthorised person” to which Rule 52 (Overnight Guests & Unauthorised Occupancy) and Rule 69 (Trespassing) applies. Is there a lock for the individual rooms in the shared apartments?

All of our rooms within the apartments have lockable doors.

Is there internet access?

Yes! Whether you’re using your internet for study, YouTube, Netflix or gaming we have a plan to keep you connected during your stay. We have plans from 50GB to 100GB so you can choose which internet plan suits you best!

If the office is closed on the weekend, how can I check in?

If you are looking to check into the property on the weekend, there will be a member of staff or resident assistant on duty who will be able to assist you.

Can I live at the property if I do not study at this university?

The property accepts Murdoch University and MIT students only until the 1st of January, and if availability allows the village may open up to students from other tertiary facilities such as TAFE and Private College.

What type of heater am I allowed to bring?

You are allowed to bring oil heaters. *Fan heaters are NOT allowed in the property.*

Can I have people stay over?

Although we do not encourage overnight guests, we do understand that you may have someone stay from time to time. Please make sure that you sign your guest into reception upon arrival and sign them out on departure. As per the property rules, you can have a guest stay no more than 2 consecutive nights in a 7 day period and they must be respectful to all the property rules.

What fees am I required to pay to secure a room at the village?

Before confirmation of your place, you will be required to pay theBOND, which amounts to four weeks of rent and is held over the duration of your stay as damage collateral. Where applicable, you will receive a refund of your bond upon completion of you contract.

Can I bring my pet?

The property has a no pet policy – this unfortunately, also includes goldfish.

Do I need to bring kitchen utilities, such as a kettle or toaster, with me?

The kitchens are already kitted out with basic amenities, such as the fridge and the microwave. However, you will need to supply your own utilities such as a toaster, kettle, and sandwich press for example. If you live in shared accommodation, you can always wait until you meet your roommates to organise a group shop to figure out what everyone has brought along with them.

How are roommates allocated? Can I put in preferences?

Roommate allocations are conducted in accordance with any requests, such as: study preference, age, and gender. To make a request, you will be prompted to include these during the application process

Can I get financial assistance?

Unfortunately, the property does not offer any financial assistance.

What Happens if I miss my rent? Is there a late fee?

It is important to always pay your rent on time. If you know there will not be sufficient funds in your account prior to the rent date, please make sure that you contact management so that we can make arrangements for you.

If your rent is processed and there are insufficient funds, please note that a breach notice from property management will occur.

Can I live here if I am under 18?

Murdoch University Property accepts students under the age of 18, as long as you are turning 18 within the same academic year. If you are not 18 in the same academic year, village management will access your application before proceeding. Please note that our guarantor form signed by a parent or guardian is required.

If office hours are closed, how can I check in?

If you are arriving after hours one of our resident assistant will check you into the property. There is a telephone available outside of our reception which is a free call directly to the RA.

What do I have to bring?

We recommend bringing the bare minimum when you first arrive, that way you and your new roommates can work out who buys what to avoid a double up of certain items. However, below is a list of what you’ll need: · A photocopy of your ID, such as Passport or Drivers Licence to assist in your check in · Bedding/Linen – size dependant on your area of residence as below: · Queen Apartments - Double Bed

· Towels and tea towels · Food and household supplies - until you can arrange a group shop with your housemates · Cooking equipment, crockery, cutlery, glasses, cooking utensils etc. · Laundry supplies – some areas have clothes lines for communal use, all laundries have dryers · Toasters, irons, ironing boards, TV’s etc. – although some residents wait until meeting their roommates on arrival to share the costs of small appliances

Is there security available at the village?

The Village works closely with Campus security and they patrol the village regularly.

Where do I go when I get there?

Please make your way to our reception located in Building 32.
Upon arrival you will need to provide a copy of our student card, photo ID and ensure all payments are made. Our staff will check you in and assist you to your room. Upon arrival if you require a carpark permit, please let us know and we will provide the forms you require. You will need to take these to student services to arrange your property carpark permit immediately. Please note that carpark permits cannot be arrange before you arrive at the property.

How can I prove I am a student?

When you arrive at the property you will be asked to provide your student ID card. If you are a first year university student and have not received your student ID. You must provide your letter of offer as your proof of enrollment upon check-in and provide your student card once you have received it.

Where is the nearest swimming pool?

There is a swimming pool in the village that is available for residents to use without any additional cost.

I will not be here for the whole year, are there other contract options?

We have multiple contract options that are suitable for a range of different stays:

Semester 2 (21 weeks) Not all room types are available on all contract types.

How much is it to do laundry?

There are four laundries across the property. They are coin operated and residents are required to use $1 or $2 coins to pay for their laundry. The price of a load of washing is $3/wash and a load of washing is $3/dry.

Do I have to find my own roommates?

You are not required to find your own roommates. You are able to just apply on your own and we will allocate you within an apartment that is suitable.How is the property

different from other options of residential living on campus?

The property fosters independent living while also accommodating students just moving out of home for the first time. There is a strong communal attitude among the residents; however, it also helps students adjust to a more self-sufficient lifestyle where they look after themselves through their cooking, laundry and housekeeping duties. There are many options for residents to become involved in the property atmosphere, while also providing an environment where the resident can also choose not to participate and this is okay. In the case of any queries, the property team is always there for support in case the student is looking for assistance.

What is the bond?

If you receive an offer of accommodation from Murdoch University Village, a bond equivalent to 4 weeks rent is payable by you to confirm your accommodation. Your bond will be lodged with the Department of Commerce, WA and will be refunded at the end of your contact.

How do I get from the airport?

The property is located 23km from the Perth Airport and is approximately a 30 minute drive depending on the time of the day. A Taxi is approximately $45-$60.

How would I get my mail at the village?

Letters will be placed inside your apartment mailbox located outside of reception.
Parcels will be held at reception and will be available for collection between 2pm and 7pm. Please make sure you label your mail clearly, once we receive it we will send you an email for you to collect it from our reception.

I'm not a murdoch university student, am I still eligible to stay on campus?

While Murdoch students are given preference for accommodation, non-Murdoch students are also eligible to apply. This includes research assistants and full-time, part-time, undergraduate and postgraduate students of any tertiary institution. Accommodation to non-Murdoch University students will be offered from 2nd January.

Where do I park?

All on campus parking is organised through Murdoch University directly.
There a limited number of purple parking bays available for Property Residents only, which are located withinCarpark 6.

Upon arrival at the village an application form for a purple permit can be obtained from property reception. You will then need to take the form directly to student services to arrange your purple permit.

I want to bring my own TV, are there TV antennas?

There are no TV's supplied, however you are welcome to bring your own for your room or to share with your flatmates in the lounge room. Please note there are antennas in the lounge room only, not located in the bedrooms. We recommend waiting until you have arrived at the property before purchasing a TV increase your flatmates already have one.

Can a couple live here?

Most of our rooms are single occupancy, however do have a limited number of dual occupancy rooms available.

How do you accept payments?

Payments on the student portal can be made with Visa or Master Card, please note that credit card surcharges apply. Over the counter at reception we accept cash, EFTPOS, Visa or Master Card. If you would like to make a direct deposit transfer into our account, please contact us at so that we can assist you with arranging your transfer.

Can I bring my own internet?

Big Air internet packages are available at the property for you to tailor to your own personal requirements. You are more than welcome to bring your own internet provided it is a Wi-Fi dongle, we do not permit ADSL to be installed.
