Does MAA have a water conservation policy?

MAA is dedicated to the more efficient use of our natural resources. We employ smart irrigation practices in many at most of our communities. These include implementing weather-based control systems, low-flow irrigation devices and the use of reclaimed and well water. We also use drought-tolerant plant material in our landscaping that requires less water and incorporate hardscaping to reduce turf area. Our highest irrigation use properties undergo annual efficiency audits. Since 2012, we have saved almost 100 million gallons in our landscaping program as a result of our conservation efforts. Many of our communities install low-flow plumbing fixtures in our kitchens and baths and we monitor community water use throughout the year to spot opportunities for improvement.

Does MAA recycle building or renovation materials?

MAA has established partnerships to recycle discarded carpeting as we update properties. We continue to look for opportunities to expand our efforts in this area including donating used appliances and model furniture to our corporate charity The Open Arms Foundation. In 2019, the sale from these donations topped $35,000 will all proceeds benefitting the Open Arms program.

Can residents pay rent online?
