London South Bank University also known as LSBU is a public university located in the London Borough of Southwark, close to the South Bank of the River Thames in Elephant and Castle in London. Named after its neighbourhood, London South Bank University has its origins traced back to 1892. Founded under the name Borough Polytechnic Institute, the institute had undergone several name changes from the Polytechnic of the South Bank in 1970 to South Bank Polytechnic in 1987. Later on, in the year 1992, the institute was granted its university status and was renamed as the South Bank University which was subsequently renamed for the final time as the London South Bank University (LSBU) in the month September 2003. 


Awarded with a Silver rating by Teaching Excellence Framework, the LSBU currently caters a total of 18,000 students and provides courses at Foundation, Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Research level. Some of the Notable alumni of London South Bank University include Sir David Adjaye, Edna Adan Ismail, Sue Black, Russel Lissack and Charlie Whiting.

The main university campus is in Holloway, in North London. The facilities of Science, Computing, Social Sciences and Humanities are offered on this campus.
