It's important to make sure that you always know where your keys are. If you do misplace your room key, please note that there is a $5 cost to replace your swipe card and $25 cost to replace your metal room key. These costs will be placed directly onto your account.

How often will my room be inspected?

Apartments are inspected every 3 months. We will advise you prior to inspections occurring.

what happens if I get locked out of my room?

If you are locked out of your room during office hours, please make your way to reception or call our office and one of our staff will be able to assist you.

How do I get my mail, at the village?

We offer 24-hour support to our residents with village management, Resident Assistants and campus security.

How far is the village from the university?

The Village is located on the university campus and is only a short walk from classes and the library.

Is there any heating/cooling in my room?

Mt Lawley All of our rooms are equipped with a wall heater and a fan for cooling during the warmer months. Bunbury All of our room are equipped with a wall heater and a wall fan. Joondalup All of our bedrooms are equipped with a wall heater and a wall fan.

Is there access to public transportation?

Mt Lawley: A quick 12 minute walk to the bus stop on North St after Third Avenue, you will be able to take bus # 60 to the CBD. This will take roughly 29 minutes. There is also the Mt Lawley train station a quick 7 minute drive away from the village. Trains from the station will take you into Perth CBD.

Does my room have a window?

All rooms within the apartment have a window.

Is the village secure?

The village is A+ security with a staff member or resident assistant on duty at all times in case of an emergency.

Is there a lock for the individual rooms in the shared apartments?

All of our rooms within the apartments have lockable doors.

Can a couple live at the village?

Dual occupants can be accommodated in the single apartments for example, a 1-bedroom apartment, provided at least one person is enrolled as a student. Please note, however, that due to age restrictions we are unable to accommodate children at the Village.

Can I apply at reception?

No - applications for accommodation can only be made online through our website.

Can I smoke at the village?

There Village has a NO SMOKING policy. For more information, please see the village rules on the student portal.

Can I choose my own room?

You are able to submit preferences for specific rooms during the application process. We will do our best to accommodate all requests during the allocation process; however, due to the high capacity of requests we cannot guarantee anything or make any promises.

Why am I required to make an application so early on?

We open applications early due to the high demand of students looking for residential accommodation. To secure a room at the village we recommend make your application as soon as possible, to make sure you don't miss out!

Will my room have an en-suite?

None of our rooms have an ensuite.

Is there after hours support?

There is always a staff member or resident assistant 24/7 for support at the village in case of emergency.

Is there a TV in the apartment?

Mt Lawley: There are TVs in our poolside apartments, except for the NRAS-studio. All lakeside apartments do not have a television in the living room. Bunbury: All rooms have TV aerials in the lounge room; however, noTV is supplied. Joondalup: Only our 4 bedroom apartments are equipped with a TV. All other room types do not have this feature.

Is there a cleaning service?

There is no cleaning service at the village. You are required to upkeep you personal areas yourself, and organise among the residents of the apartment how to keep the common areas clean. There is an optional cleaning service available, please contact us at live@ecuvillage.com.au if you would like to pricing.

Who has access to my room?

Every room is private with a lockable door - only you will have access to your room. If you are in shared accommodation, the communal areas will the be accessible to all tenants of the specific apartment.

Is there a curfew at the village?

The Village is your home and you are welcome to come and go as you please. Please note that we do have rules regarding Noise and Visitors within the Village. Noise Curfew Residents must comply with all directions from Village management in relation to noise minimisation, particularly in response to noise complaints from other residents of the Village and/or neighbours of the Village. For more information please refer to the Village Noise Policy. Sunday - Thursday: 10pm* Friday - Saturday: 12pm* *during the exam periods, please note that these times do change and there should be no excessive noise within the Village during this time. Visitors A visitor is defined as a person who is meeting with a resident for a short period of time, while a guest is defined as a person who is staying overnight with a resident in accordance with the Rules. All visitors are required to leave the Village by 12 midnight (unless otherwise notified to residents by Village management from time to time). Any visitor present in the Village after the specified time will be considered an “unauthorised person” to which Rule 52 (Overnight Guests & Unauthorised Occupancy) and Rule 69 (Trespassing) applies. How big is my bed?

Please refer to the "Rooms and Pricing" page on the website. Select the "Room" and then the "Your Room" Tab to view what is included including the bed size.

Am I able to leave my belongings in my room before my contract starts?

You will not be able to access your room or leave any belongings in the village before your contract starts.

How would I get my mail at the village?

Mt Lawley All mail is delivered to the village. Letters are placed in apartment letterboxes outside of the common room. Parcels are kept at reception and must be signed for. The postal address is: PO Box 64 Mt Lawley, WA, 6050. Bunbury All mail is delivered to the village office, and students can come and pick it up. The postal address is: ECU Village Bunbury 585 Robertson Drive Bunbury, WA 6230 Joondalup All mail is delivered to the village office; letters are placed in the mailboxes outside reception and parcels are kept at reception to be signed for. Can I live at the Village if I do not study at ECU?

Students from ECU, WAAPA and ECC (Edith Cowan College) are all eligible to live at the Village.

What type of heater am I allowed to bring?

You are allowed to bring oil heaters. Fan heaters are NOT allowed in the village. If you have any further questions or you are unsure and would like clarification, please email zendesk email or call us on advertised number.

What supermarkets are close by for me to purchase food?

Mt Lawley: 2nd Avenue IGA is only a short 15 minute walk from campus for all your grocery needs! Bunbury: There is a Coles supermarket only a short 10 minute walk from the village to suit all your shopping needs. Joondalup: There is a Woolworths about 2km from the village campus. There is also the Lakeside Shopping Centre the same distance with access to movies, supermarkets, Kmart, clothing stores, and restaurants.

How much is it to do laundry?

Mt Lawley: The laundry facility is open 24 hours and is available for all residents. The price of a load of washing is $4 and drying costs $1/20 minutes. The machine are coin operated using $1 and $2 coins. Bunbury: The laundry facility is open from 7am to 9pm and both machines are front loader. The price of a load of washing is $2 and a load of drying costs $2. The machines are coin operated using $1 and $2 coins. Joondalup: The laundry facility is open form 7am to 9pm and both machines are front loader. The price of a load of washing is $3 and a load of drying costs $2. Please note that the laundry is cashless and you can upload money to your student card or use the Eftpos machine with the laundry.

Do I need to bring kitchen utilities, such as a kettle or toaster, with me?

The kitchens are already kitted out with basic amenities, such as the fridge and the microwave. However, you will need to supply your own utilities such as a toaster, kettle, and sandwich press for example. If you live in shared accommodation, you can always wait until you meet your roommates to organise a group shop to figure out what everyone has brought along with them.

Are meals included?

ECU Village does not provide catering. However each apartment has access to a fully equipped kitchen including a fridge, freezer, stovetop and microwave so feel free to cook up a storm at any time of the day.

Where is the nearest swimming pool?

Our ECU Mt Lawley and ECU Joondalup Villages have pools within the village, so your next swim is just a stroll away! For ECU Village Bunbury the nearest pool is a the Southwest Spots Centre, which is a 15 minute walk / 2km away.

How do I know my application is approved?

You will receive a letter of offer to stay at the village via email, if you are successful. Please note, an offer can only be sent if all steps of the application process is complete.

How can I prove I am a student?

When you arrive at the village you will be asked to provide your student ID card. If you are a first year university student and have not received your student ID. You must provide your letter of offer as your proof of enrollment upon check-in and provide your student card once you have received it.

Do you have a credit card surcharge?

Credit card surcharges apply to all payments made on the student portal or over the counter at the Village. The Village does not accept cash for rental payments.

It's my first time in Australia, how can I get to the village?

Can I bring my pet?

The village has a no pet policy – this includes fish.

Do I have to find my own roommates?

You don't need to find your own roommates. If you're interested in a shared apartment, we will do our best to pair you with people who have similar preferences. If you already have specific individuals you'd like to live with, please list their names in the roommate preferences section of your application. Whilst we will try to accommodate these requests, please be aware that we cannot guarantee them due to the high volume of requests we receive.

How is the village different from other options of residential living on campus?

The village fosters independent living while also accommodating students just moving out of home for the first time. There is a strong communal attitude among the residents; however, it also helps students adjust to a more self-sufficient lifestyle where they look after themselves through their cooking, laundry and housekeeping duties. There are many options for residents to become involved in the village atmosphere, while also providing an environment where the resident can also choose not to participate and this is okay.

Can I live here if I am under 18?

ECU Village accepts students under the age of 18, as long as you are turning 18 within the same academic year. If you are not 18 in the same academic year, village management will access your application before proceeding. Please note that our guarantor form signed by a parent or guardian is required.

Is There Internet Access?

For your convenience, high speed wireless internet is provided a third party internet service provider Connect.my.net You can select and purchase the right package for you, depending on your needs and requirements. We suggest activating your account once you arrive at the village.

I'm not an ECU Student, am I still eligible to stay on campus?

The Village accepts students studying at Edith Cowan University, Edith Cowan College, and WAAPA (Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts).

Can I have people stay over?

Although we do not encourage overnight guests, we do understand that you may have someone stay from time to time. Please make sure that you sign your guest into reception upon arrival and sign them out on departure. As per the village rules, you can have a guest stay, no more than 2 consecutive nights in a 7 day period.

Is there a phone in the room?

No, there are no operating phones in the rooms.

What happens if I miss my rent? Is there a late fee?

It is important to always pay your rent on time. If you know there will not be sufficient funds in your account prior to the rent date, please make sure that you contact Village management, so that we can make arrangements for you. If your rent is processed and there are insufficient funds, please note that a breach notice from village management will occur.

Where can I park?

A parking permit is required, please note that all on campus parking is organised directly through ECU.
