Preston College


Established in the month of September 1974, Preston's College is a further education college located in the city of Preston, Lancashire in England. Founded under the name of Preston’s Chief Education Officer, the W R Tuson College was one of only 12 further education colleges in England and also the very first college in the country to provide a true union of academic and vocational courses. 

However,  on 1 September 1989, in accordance with the growing national profile, the W R Tuson College officially changed its name from W R Tuson College to Preston College. Later on, in the month of September 2013, Preston College was renamed for the final time as Preston's College. 

Currently catering a total of 17,000 students, the Preston's College offers various courses including higher education, apprenticeships, 14-19 school leavers and adults. Also, the British Comedian Lenny Henry is one of the notable alumni of the college.

Preston's College had a total of two main sites until mid-2011; the main college campus on St. Vincent's Road in Fulwood and a smaller building located close to Moor Park. The college completed the build of a Btec building upon the Fulwood campus in mid-2011 which replaced the Moor Park campus.

Located on St Vincent’s Road, Fulwood, Preston’s College main campus is where most of the courses are taught. The campus is also home to an I-Stem centre, Eric Wright Learning Foundation and HE Centre. In January 2012, a visual and performing arts centre was also opened on the Fulwood site.  The campus is well-connected to the Preston city via public transport. The Preston train station is only a ten-minute walk away from the town’s bus station. Many bus services like 19A (Royal Preston Hospital), Preston Orbital (88A and 88C) and 23 (Sherwood Asda) serve the College. 

Student life

Student life at Preston’s College is not just about academics and books, but the students studying at the college also enjoy fun-filled college days which includes sports, culture, music, arts and much more. Also, the city life at Preston is filled up to the brim with history, vibrant nightlife, shopping spots, music and food scenes.
