Oxford Brookes University


Founded in 1865, Oxford Brookes University is a public university located in Oxford. In the beginning, it was founded as the Oxford School of Art, and after five years, it joined the school of science. The school was taken over by Oxford city council's technical instruction committee and renamed as Oxford city technical school. John Henry Brookes became vice-principal of the oxford city technical school and the head of the school of arr in 1928. He always focused on the goal of making education available to everyone throughout his life. In 1970, The oxford college of technology became oxford polytechnic. It got its university status in 1992 and honoured its former principal John Henry Brookes by adopting the name as Oxford Brookes University.  The University is divided into four faculties: Oxford Brookes Business School, Health and Life Sciences, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Technology, Design, and Environment. The University is ranked 51st by the complete university guide 2020, 33rd by the guard university guide 2020, and 63rd by The Times/ Sunday times good university guide 2020. According to HESA- 12,385 students were studying at Oxford Brookes University in the year 2018.

Headington campus 

By bus- 

Headington campus is half an hour walk or a 10-minute bus ride from Oxford city centre. It is also connected to the Oxford train station via U1 BROOKESbus service. Wheatley campus is also seven miles south-east of Oxford city centre.

By coach - 

There are two direct coach services - X90 and Oxford tube, both running every 10-15 minutes during the day. Coach services take approx 1 hour and 40 minutes from London.

By train

There are direct train services to Oxford from London and many other UK towns and cities. You can get the U1 bus from outside the Oxford train station directly to Headington and Wheatley campuses.

By Walking and cycling

For students staying near to the University, walking or cycling can be a great option. Cycle parking facilities and bike racks are also available at both campuses.

Wheatley Campus

The Wheatley Campus is located in the Oxfordshire countryside; It offers courses like information technology, engineering and mathematics. The campus also has residential accommodation, sports places, a library, computer rooms, and a Brookes union shop as well.

Harcourt Hill

Harcourt Hill is three miles from Oxford city centre. The campus is home to excellent academic facilities, as well as a great hang out places to socialise. Students there can also access to the services on campus. 

Swindon Campus

Swindon Campus was opened in 2017, and it is located in the West Swindon, in the Delta business park. The campus offers facilities like start-of-the-art clinical labs, library and modern training equipment to enhance student learning.
