University of Warwick


The University of Warwick, also known as Warw is a public research university located on the border of Coventry between Warwickshire and the West Midlands. Established in the year 1965, the University of Warwick was born as a context of the government initiative to expand higher education. The university houses- Warwick Business School which was founded in 1967, Warwick Law School which was established in the year 1968, Warwick Manufacturing Group ( WMG) founded in the year 1980, and Warwick Medical School was inaugurated in the year 2000. In addition to this, Warwick University also incorporated Coventry College of Education and Horticulture Research International in the year 1979 and 2004 respectively.

Spread across 720 acres, the University of Warwick currently caters to a total of 25,000 students. Organised into four faculties- Medicine, Science, Arts and Social Science, the University offers a range of courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. However, some of the reputed Warwick university subjects include social science, Business & Management Studies, Economics and WMG.

In addition to this, the Warwick University is also a member of the reputed Russell Group, ACU, EQUIS, AACSB, Universities UK, Guild of European Research-Intensive Universities, Midlands Innovation, AMBA and European University Association.


Located at the outskirts of Coventry, Warwick is merely a 9-minutes drive from the city centre. The University’s leading site includes three adjoining campuses, all situated at just a few steps away from each other. In addition to this, Warwick University also owns an area in Wellesbourne, which was acquired during the merger between the University and Horticulture Research International.

The Warwick university’s main campus is spread across 710 acres between the Warwickshire borough and the City of Coventry. Displaying a contemporary 1960s architecture, the campus houses a University House, Warwick Arts Centre, White Koan and Sports facilities. Apart from this, the main campus also contains all of the significant student amenities, including the Students’ Union and four halls of residence.

The other sites of the University of Warwick include- Gibbet Hill Campus which houses department of Life Sciences and the pre-clinical activities of Warwick Medical School and Westwood Campus which is home to Centre for Lifelong Learning, Centre for Professional Education and Arden House conference centre. Also, the Shard skyscraper located in the city of London houses the metropolitan campus of Warwick Business School, which offers the Executive MBA course. 

Student life

The University of Warwick has its lecture theatres, seminar halls and a well-stocked library full of book and journals, to cater to different preferences of the students.
