The University of Birmingham, a public research university established in 1900 by Queen Victoria, often regarded as the oldest and most established University. The University of Birmingham, main campus is at Edgbaston. It is a member of the Russell Group of British research universities and a founding member of Universitas 21, offering over 300 programmes from business to biosciences, engineering to psychology.

The University of Birmingham awarded as the 'University of the Year' in 2014, and according to The Graduate Market in 2019 it was the third most targeted University by top employers in 2018-19.
