De Montfort University


Founded in the year 1870, De Montfort University (DMU) is a public university located in the city of Leicester, England. Formerly known as Leicester School of Art, the DMU gained its University status in the year 1992 under the Further and Higher Education Act. The De Montfort University was named after the 13th-century Earl of Leicester “Simon de Montford” and is organised into four departments- Business and Law (BAL), Computing, Engineering and Media (CEM), Art, Design, and Humanities (ADH) and Health and Life Sciences (H&LS).

In the 2017 Teaching Excellence Framework, De Montfort University was awarded a Gold rating by the UK Department of Education. In addition to this, the DMU also holds its affiliations in the Universities UK and the Association of Commonwealth Universities.
