Situated in Victoria, Australia, Melbourne boasts a substantial student populace, fostering a dynamic and collaborative learning environment, complemented by a high standard of living and numerous rankings as one of the world's most livable cities. As an educational hub, the city hosts a plethora of universities renowned globally, making it an ideal setting for academic growth. Nestled on the banks of the Yarra River as it meets Port Phillip Bay, Melbourne is home to a population of 5 million and sits on land that has been inhabited by Aboriginal Australians for over 40,000 years. Following British settlement in the early 1800s, the wealth generated from the nearby mid-19th century gold rush contributed to the development of much of the city's present-day architecture. Magnificent Victorian-era structures like Parliament House, The Princess Theatre, and The Block Arcade stand today as vibrant as they were upon their inception, juxtaposed with the striking modern buildings that now adorn the skyline.

The Victorian era also gave rise to Melbourne's distinctive Hoddle Grid layout, which created the city's renowned laneways famous for their street art, and narrow alleys hiding world-class restaurants, bars, and boutiques. Melburnians are known for their obsessions, particularly with coffee, sport, and food. This passion drives the city's quest for excellence, evident in the espresso-scented laneways where baristas tirelessly grind for that perfect shot, or in the myriad of flavour combinations emerging from kitchens reflecting cuisines from around the world, influenced by the city's proud multicultural heritage. This passion also resonates from the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground, where 100,000 fans gather for a game of Aussie Rules. Beyond its artistic and cultural offerings, Melbourne's landscape features grand parks, impressive gardens, and beautiful seascapes, making it a must-visit on any Australian itinerary. Choosing The Switch Melbourne Victoria Market means being a part of a vibrant, multicultural metropolis famed for its educational excellence and cultural richness.
