Frequently Asked Questions

How do I secure my room?

Our booking process couldn’t be easier. To get started, have your photo ID and proof of address to hand, and visit the webpage which is linked to your chosen location. You then follow the process of choosing and confirming your ideal arrangement.

You will then have a chance to review all the details you have provided and to add any special arrangements or preferences you have, before everything is confirmed with a formal accommodation agreement.

Students should note that a deposit may be taken to secure your room. Deposits will be held in an independent and Government-authorised deposit protection scheme (UK only) and will be returned when you move out – subject to any damages or cleaning fees which need to be deducted following completion of your tenancy.

Do I have to be a student to live at property?

Yes, our accommodation in each city is designed for full and part-time students only.

Can I live with my friends?

Definitely! Once you have completed the booking process online, make sure to get in touch with us directly to outline your preference and to let us know who you want to room with. Our aim when placing people together is always to match like minded people – considering your university, course, and age as well as any other special requests.

Do you offer shorter contracts?

Generally our tenancies are for full years. If a shorter term agreement is something you are seeking or need to discuss, please get in touch with us directly to see if your needs can be accommodated.

Do you offer rooms for disability?

Our apartments are built to be as inclusive and accessible as possible, with specific rooms and living arrangements designed to facilitate and support those with all manner of disabilities. We understand that finding the right accommodation can be daunting for those living with disabilities, so please get in touch so we can discuss your individual needs directly and make sure that all your needs are catered for.

Do I need a guarantor?

A guarantor is the best way to protect your place with us if things get tough, especially if you are struggling to pay your rent. If you are paying in instalments, then we do ask that you provide a guarantor or appoint a Housing Hand as your guarantor.

If you are paying your rent upfront in a single lump sum, a guarantor is not required.

Can I change my payment plan part way through my tenancy if something happens?

We are no stranger to bad days or tough months – we’ve all been there, and we’ve all wished that the person at the other end of the phone was a little more understanding. Because of this, and in an effort to make our agreements as flexible as possible for our residents and students, if something occurs – like an emergency payment you have to make elsewhere, or your student loan doesn’t arrive on time – simply get in touch to discuss the situation with us directly. We can then amend your payment plan if required, to help you out.

I haven’t received my loan and cannot afford my rental instalments – what do I do?

Things happen; we get it. Your student loan may be delayed, or something else might interfere with your ability to pay your rent on time. But DONT PANIC!

Call in at reception and let us know what has happened so we can help you. This might include changing your payment to a later date. Just keep us in the loop so we can help you.

Can I have visitors?

Absolutely – university is a time for making new friends (and besides, we know you’ll want to show off your new home!).

We do ask that those living in shared apartments or studios refrain from having more than one guest at any time, and that you keep overnight stays to a maximum of two nights per week.

Visitors also need to sign in at reception and sign out when they leave, to assist us in the event of a fire evacuation. In addition, please note that our visitor policy can be amended at any time.

Do you allow pets?

Sorry, we don’t allow pets in our accommodation unless they are approved assistance or disability dogs.

Will the gym be open?

We are carefully monitoring Government advice on social distancing and at this time we plan for our gyms to be open, but so you can exercise safely there will be a restriction on the number of people using it at any one time, and there will be less equipment than usual.

Please use the gym sanitising station regularly and follow instructions on staying safe. Opening hours may be reduced to allow extra cleaning and sanitising to be carried out.

We will be responding swiftly to any new restrictions in light of new data on outbreaks and risk. We ask for your understanding around any changes that lie ahead.

What equipment is available in the gym and fitness studio?

Our gyms typically contain all of your equipment that you would expect – including weight machines, cardiovascular machines, and free weights as well as mats for yoga and stretching. For a more detailed view of your chosen  accommodation, check out the accommodation photos.

Is there somewhere safe to park my car?

Not only will this help reduce your own carbon footprint, but it will save you money in the long run.
