University of Portsmouth


The University of Portsmouth roots can be traced back to Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art. In 1908, the Park building opened as a Municipal college and public library, and the focus was on chemistry and engineering. By the late 80s, Portsmouth Polytechnic had become one of the largest and best-performing polytechnics in the UK. The University of Portsmouth got the university status in the year 1992 and outgrew from the University's old name. 

The University is home to more than 25,000 students from over 120 countries, and the University was ranked 21 in The Guardian University Guide 2020, and according to The Times Good University Guide 2019, University of Portsmouth comes in the top 30 UK University for teaching quality. The University of Portsmouth has also invested £150 million in the last ten years to upgrade its amenities so that the students can boost their learning skills and adapt themselves to any workplace globally.
