A total of 101 Indian students, including more than 50 women, have been selected for the esteemed Erasmus+ scholarships to pursue fully funded two-year master's programmes in Europe, starting in autumn 2025. India continues to rank among the top three global recipients since initiating participation in 2014.
Launched in 1987, Erasmus+ (European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students) is the EU’s flagship mobility programme that supports international academic exchanges. Scholars can study at two or more European universities, earn joint, double, or multiple degrees, and receive full funding covering tuition, travel, visas, insurance, and living expenses.
Erasmus Mundus, under the umbrella of Erasmus+, is a highly competitive scholarship scheme that allows students to pursue joint, double, or multiple master’s degrees across at least two European universities. The programme covers:
Full tuition fees
Monthly living stipend
Travel and visa costs
Health insurance
It’s not just a scholarship, but an immersive academic and cultural journey that shapes scholars into global professionals. The 2021–2027 Erasmus+ budget of €26.2 billion (~₹2.09 lakh crore) makes this the most ambitious European academic mobility initiative ever.
