Germany Launches Programes for International Students, Aims To Retain And Attract Students

Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst, also called the German Academic Exchange Service, has collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Education and Research to launch a new initiative to retain the number of international students in Germany. This joint effort by the DAAD and the Exchange Service aims to ease the shortage of skilled workers.
The collaboration has set a budget of €1 million, which will be running till 2028, The Programme of the coined term FIT(Promotion of International Talent for Integration into Studies and the Labour Market) is set to start by the spring of 2024, as reported by erudera.com. FIT aims to support up to 70 projects over german universities. They aim to give international students the required career support during their studies, which includes preparing for studying in germany, academic success, a major improvement in job opportunities and assistance with their career transition process.
The Federal Education Minister of Germany, Bettina Stark Watzinger, said that a vast majority of International students consider the possibility of staying back in germany for their future career plans.
The Second Programme with the joint initiative is called Profi Plus, also known as “Academic Adaptation Qualification for the German Labour Market”. This programme targets international students who hold degrees holding degrees from foreign universities.
Just like FIT, Profi Plus has a budget of €700,000 per project, which aims to support up to 25 university projects. Profi Plus aims to support graduates with their qualifications to help and meet the job requirements in the german labour market.
