As Marc Miller, the minister of immigration, refugees and citizenship, recently announced a 35% cut in the number of student visas canada will be issuing on an immediate basis. As the Provincial budget came out this week, it was debated in the province house. The first department to spark a debate was the Department of Advance Education. Which brought out many important details about the federal government’s plan for limiting international student visas
The Advanced Education Minister Brian Wong reportedly told the subcommittee that Nova Scotia has received the maximum number of international study applications it can for the 2-24-25 school year. The number came to 12,900, which was shared by the universities, language schools, private career colleges and NSCC. The number is 7,000 short of that of last year, which is on track with the federal government’s new rule to reduce the number of international student intake by 35%.
All learning institutions will be sharing the 12,900 quota. However the designated learning institutions recently learned about the 12,900 number. However, the province of Nova Scotia has time until march to figure out how exactly this will be allocated. Don’t forget to follow Amber Newsroom to get more such updates.
