Founded in the year 1495, the University of Aberdeen is a public research university located in the port town of Aberdeen, Scotland. The University was founded when Scottish bishop and statesman-William Elphinstone and Chancellor of Scotland, requested Pope Alexander VI on behalf of James IV, King of Scots to establish King's College, making it the third oldest University in Scotland and fifth oldest in the UK. Later on, in the year 1860, the University of Aberdeen was formed as a result of the merger between Marischal College and King's College.

Catering around 15,000 students from over 120 countries, the University of Aberdeen offers both undergraduate as well as postgraduate courses in various subjects out of which the famous ones include Engineering and Science. 

In addition to being ranked in the United Kingdom's top 30 universities, the University of Aberdeen has also been named as the 2019 Scottish University of the Year by the Sunday Times Good University Guide and The Times.
