About Huddersfield

Huddersfield is a well-known, large market town in the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees. This town was a central mill town in the Industrial Revolution. The city has the University of Huddersfield and three colleges: Kirklees College, Greenhead College, and Huddersfield New College. The town combines the Holme and River Colne's short valleys south of the town centre. This city lies in the South Pennines' moorlands, which merge into the eastern foothills of the Pennines east of the town. Although they are primarily semi-rural, neighbouring wards in the Colne Valley, Holme Valley, and Kirkburton are frequently considered part of the town. Compared to other cities of its size, the city boasts a large and varied retail shopping sector surrounded by the town's ring road. Kingsgate, The Packhorse Precinct, and The Piazza Centre are the three shopping districts.
