Bus
The bus system in Edinburgh is run by two major companies, i.e. Lothian and First. A single ticket can cost you around £1.80, but if you are a student under the age of 22, you wouldn't have to shed a penny! The Scottish Government has a scheme where bus travel is free for young people. Those above 22 can apply for Ridacard for unlimited rides and super discounts.
Trains
You can take trains from Waverley Station and Haymarket Stations to spend the weekend exploring or relaxing outside Edinburgh. Students can also get their hands on National Rail Cards to get discounts on all train tickets.
Trams
Earlier trams were the traditional way of moving around Edinburgh, and they still play a massive role in modern transportation. The trams are open from early morning till late midnight and accessible throughout the city. Don't forget to use your Ridacard to get a small discount on your trip as well.
